Bandaging

Your artist will cover your tattoo with the most appropriate bandage for your tattoo and skin. IF they applied a "tegaderm/second skin" type of bandage, try to leave it on for up to 5 days. These bandages are medical grade, designed to stay on for days at a time & withstand moisture in the showers. They use an acrylic adhesive to stick to your skin.

IF you have indicated that you have an allergy to adhesive, or other skin sensitivities, you artist may recommend using a traditional bandaging method instead, which would not stay on for more than a few hours after your session.

02

Bandage Removal

Remove your bandage exactly how and when you artist told you to. When you remove it, we expect pieces of dry inked skin to be flaking off, we also know that there is a lot of ink that will be stuck to your bandage. This can look frightening for your new tattoo but is completely normal & there's no reason worry about it.

IF your artist used a "tegaderm/second skin" type of bandage, be sure to take a corner and peel your bandage slowly on an angle parallel to your skin (like a command strip). You will see your bandage come off with ease that way only.

IF you used a traditional healing method, you should remove your bandage 2-4 hours after your session. Either way, when your bandage is finally off you should give your tattoo a warm soapy rinse with unscented antibacterial soap to remove any excess ink or residue from your skin.

Basic Skin Care

When your bandage is finally off you should assess the situation. If your tattoo is dry/flaking you can apply a thin film of unscented skin moisturizer 3-4 times per day until it's done peeling. We recommend giving your tattoo a warm soapy rinse 3 times per day, then applying moisturizer making sure to use clean hands each time. Stay away from Neosporin, or sun block until your tattoo heals all the way. You will know your tattoo is healed when your tattooed skin is smooth to the touch. To keep your tattoo looking sharp and vibrant you should regularly apply moisturizer to your tattoos, please remember to use sunblock only after your tattoo is done pealing, (aka done healing).

DO NOT: Swim, sunbathe, force yourself to sweat, or consume excessive blood thinners while your tattoo is healing (this is usually a 2-4week period depending on the size of your tattoo work)
